Dorothy isn't the only one who thought "there's no place like home" when thinking about Kansas. Finding the ideal place to raise a family is often at the top of most parents' minds, and according to a new survey from WalletHub, the Sunflower State's Overland Park is the top-ranked city in America. The site looked at more than 180 large cities (by population), evaluating nearly four dozen metrics across five categories: family fun, affordability, socioeconomics, health and safety, and education and child care. Here, the top 10 US cities to raise a family:

  1. Overland Park, Kan. (No. 1 in "affordability" category)
  2. Fremont, Calif. (No. 1 in "socioeconomics" and "health and safety" categories)
  3. Irvine, Calif.
  4. Plano, Texas
  5. South Burlington, Vt. (No. 1 in "education and child care" category)
  6. Bismarck, ND
  7. Gilbert, Ariz.
  8. Fargo, ND
  9. Scottsdale, Ariz.
  10. Boise, Idaho
