If you were wondering how long it would take Aziz Ansari to addresses the elephant in the room in his return to Netflix, TVLine has the answer: less than five minutes. Aziz Ansari: Right Now was released on Tuesday, and People reports that the special opens with the comedian talking about an anonymous woman's January 2018 allegation that he coerced her into having unwanted sexual activity while the two were on a date; he has maintained he thought what they did was consensual. In the special, which was filmed in Brooklyn in May and directed by Spike Jonze, per NBC News, Ansari notes that while he hasn't talked publicly very much "about that whole thing," he has on the tour, "cause you’re here, and it means a lot to me."
"I'm sure that some of you are curious how I feel about that whole situation," he continued. "It’s a tricky thing for me to answer, cause I’ve felt so many things in the last year or so. There are times I felt scared. There are times I’ve felt humiliated. There are times I’ve embarrassed. And ultimately, I just felt terrible that this person felt this way." He circles back to it at the end: "I saw the world where I don’t ever get to do this again. And it almost felt like I died. In a way, I did. That old Aziz who said 'Oh, treat yo' self,' whatever, he's dead. But I'm glad, cause that guy was always looking forward at whatever was next."
