A New Jersey couple went jet skiing during their Barbados vacation—and they haven't been seen since. Oscar Suarez, 32, and Magdalena Devil, 25, arrived on the Caribbean island Saturday for a weeklong stay; they rented the watercraft on Monday but never returned it, NBC News reports. The local operator who rented them the equipment got concerned and contacted other operators to attempt to locate the couple, both of whom were wearing life jackets. The disappearance was reported to the Royal Barbados Police Force the same day, and a missing-persons alert was issued as an extensive search was launched, but neither the couple nor the jet ski have been located. Suarez and Devil never returned to their St. James hotel.

Barbadian officials are in contact with the US Embassy and Suarez's family, and they've asked for the public's assistance in the search. Devil's sister posted on Facebook that she and her mother are heading to Barbados, the New York Post reports. "We pray to arrive there to some good news about Oscar and Maggie," she wrote. Family members say the two have been together about a year. Suarez has a 10-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. "He never goes a day without FaceTiming his kids," a cousin tells the Post, calling Suarez "an amazing father, a brother, a friend." (A Virginia mom says she put her toddler to bed and he was gone by morning.)
