London's mayor isn't losing any sleep over President Trump's view of him as a "stone cold loser." "This is the sort of behavior I would expect from an 11-year-old," Sadiq Khan tells CNN of Trump's tweeted remarks—apparently in response to a Saturday column in which Khan criticized the president's Muslim travel ban and family separations at the US-Mexico border and called him "one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat"—adding he's "not offended in the slightest." Khan says he won't respond in kind because "it's beneath me to do childish tweets and name-calling." But that doesn't mean he's laying off Trump, whom he referred to as "a poster boy for the far-right movement around the world" in an interview with Sky News, per the Hill.
The mayor also called out Trump directly in a video filmed for Elle UK. "Your values and what you stand for are the complete opposite of London's values and the values in this country," he says before lamenting "a rolling back of the reproductive rights of women" in the US. At one point he holds a placard reading, "Only weak men fear strong women." Khan's column argued the UK was on the "wrong side of history" for allowing this state visit by a US president who also employed "the deliberate use of xenophobia, racism, and 'otherness' as an electoral tactic" and who is "lying deliberately and repeatedly to the public." "America is like a best friend, and with a best friend you have a responsibility to be direct and honest when you believe they are making a mistake," he wrote.
