SNL Translates Mom-Speak for You

'Splendid' is really rather complicated and all-encompassing in the UK

President Trump did not escape as the target of Saturday Night Live's latest Cold Open, but the sweeter, funnier bit came during guest-host Emma Thompson's opening monologue. Joined the SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the trio proceeded to translate what your mother really means when she's talking to you, ie, "You look tired" means "You look bad." And, as the A/V Club notes, "the British acting legend’s first Saturday Night Live hosting gig could have just ended after the monologue." Thompson was absent from the Cold Open, however, in which a parody Meet the Press put it to top Senate Republicans how far Trump would have to go in order to lose their support (hint: very far.)
