CVS Health has closed 46 "underperforming" stores, or fewer than 1% of some 9,600 locations nationwide, as it shifts its retail strategy. Taking a $135 million hit, CVS initiated the closures in April under a plan to reduce floor space for retail products and embrace more health care services. Just last week, CVS said it would add "hundreds" of SmileDirectClub shops to its stores, per USA Today, which shares a full list of the closures. They include eight stores in Texas, seven in Illinois, four each in Florida and California, three each in Alabama and Minnesota, two in Hawaii and New York, and one each in Arizona, Delaware, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, and Washington, DC. A rep tells Business Insider that "lease obligations and financial performance, among other factors" were considered. (More CVS stories.)
