In a video posted on the Internet today, a captured BBC reporter says he is in good health and has been well treated. It is unclear when the footage of a beleaguered-looking Alan Johnston, who was kidnapped in Gaza City March 12, was taken. Toward the end of the footage, Johnston says "to my family" before his audio cuts off.

The logo of the Palestinian militant group holding the journalist, the Army of Islam, appears on the heavily edited video, in which a voice calls for the release from Briitish custody of an Islamic cleric suspected of having links to Al-Qaeda. Voice of America reports that as a matter of policy, the British government does not negotiate with kidnappers. (More Alan Johnston stories.)
