Trump: I Wouldn't Encourage Barron to Play Football

Football is "really tough" and "a dangerous sport," and for President Trump, it's a "very tough question" when it comes to 12-year-old son Barron playing it. Asked in a CBS News interview airing just ahead of the Super Bowl if he'd allow his son to play, the president said, "If he wanted to? Yes. Would I steer him that way? No, I wouldn't." Fortunately for Trump, the AP reports that the question is somewhat of a hypothetical: Barron plays soccer, a sport Trump says many "including me, thought ... would probably never make it in this country, but it really is moving forward rapidly." The AP notes that Trump in the past has complained that NFL moves to prevent hard hits and concussions are "ruining the game." (Maybe Sunday's Super Bowl champs will actually make it to the White House.)
