A glaring Photoshop fail has Australia—and much of the rest of the world—tittering after Prime Minister Scott Morrison was accidentally given two left feet in a photo on his official website. The family photo (which is still on the website, but has been restored to the original version) was altered to remove Morrison's somewhat beat-up athletic shoes and replace them with a gleaming white pair. The problem: In addition to the photo doctoring being pretty obvious, it was also done incorrectly ... and Morrison was given two left feet, reports the Guardian, which has a copy of the altered photo. #shoegate, as it's become known, quickly went viral, and jokes about it abound on social media. You can compare the original photo to the doctored one in this side by side comparison on Twitter.

Morrison himself got in on the fun Tuesday, tweeting a photo of himself wearing the actual shoes along with the note, "Message to my Department (PM&C): I didn’t ask for the shoeshine, but if you must Photoshop, please focus on the hair (lack thereof), not the feet! Here they are in all their glory - my footwear of choice whenever I can get out of a suit." A spokesperson for his office confirms in a statement that "the photo was doctored by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet without the knowledge of, or authorization by, the PM or the PM’s office." Some of the responses on Twitter are not as jokey as others: "Think about this," reads one. "Some staffer looked at Scott Morrison ... His attitude to women, treatment of vulnerable people, indifference to climate change and thought... 'His shoes! That's what needs a makeover.'" (Pamela Anderson recently criticized Morrison's "smutty" and "lewd" comments.)
