Elizabeth Warren changed her Twitter handle over the weekend from @elizabethforma to simply @ewarren, prompting whispers that the Massachusetts senator had plans in the works. Those plans came to light early Monday, when Warren, 69, made an announcement that the Washington Post calls a "legal precursor" to a presidential run. "Every person in America should be able to work hard, play by the same set of rules, & take care of themselves & the people they love," Warren tweeted, along with a four-minute-plus video. "That's what I'm fighting for, & that's why I'm launching an exploratory committee for president. I need you with me."

"I've spent my career getting to the bottom of why America's promise works for some families, but others who work just as hard slip through the cracks into disaster," Warren adds in the video, which was also emailed to supporters. "And what I've found is terrifying. These aren't cracks ... they're traps." By filing paperwork for this committee with the Federal Election Commission, Warren can now start to fundraise for an eventual candidacy should she decide to go for it, NBC News reports, adding that Warren doesn't have a leadership PAC like other big-name Dems said to be eyeing a presidential run. Warren says she'll make a final determination on whether she'll officially throw her hat in the ring by sometime early next year, per the Daily Beast, which notes there was no mention of President Trump in her video. (The hubbub around her DNA test might come into play.)
