Meghan McCain was understandably emotional as she bid adieu to her father at the Arizona Capitol on Wednesday. Her husband is emotional for a very different reason. While the Arizona Republic reports that photos of McCain weeping over her father's casket prompted messages of love and support across Twitter—"Who doesn't wish they could just hug @MeghanMcCain right now," reads one—at least one threatening tweet angered McCain's husband, Ben Domenech. "Tell me why this is cool by you," he tweeted at Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, per the Republic, referring to a doctored image showing two hands holding a handgun pointed at McCain as she weeps at the coffin.

"America, this ones for you," the caption reads. Domenech said the tweet remained up despite being reported more than 100 times over 12 hours. Twitter policy bans "targeted harassment" as well as "specific threats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm." Per the Daily Wire, satirist site the Onion also took some heat for an article mocking McCain, published the day before her father died. "Meghan McCain Forced to Live Out Socialist Nightmare Of Empathy For Sick Person," read the headline, which prompted intense backlash from some users, former congressman Joe Walsh among them. "This is disgusting. Especially on today of all days," he tweeted. (More Meghan McCain stories.)
