No July 4th is complete without hearing at least one person complain about fireworks, but a Michigan resident took that to the extreme. Fox 2 reports on the brouhaha and the resolution. The former began Sunday, when four homes on Dove Lane in Chesterfield Township found a letter penned by an anonymous neighbor (and subsequently posted to Facebook). "I work a 4AM-2PM shift, M-F, and last year there was a very loud and obnoxious amount of fireworks being blown off pretty close to your house" until nearly midnight, it began. The letter writer complained about getting a slim two hours of sleep and then issued the threats: "I don't care who had the party or lights the fireworks this year, I will make yours and your neighbors' lives miserable for days and months to come," it vowed.

In fact, if any fireworks were to go off after 9pm, "ANY DAY THIS WEEK"—though they could be legally set off until midnight from July 3 to 5—"I will make your lives on Dove lane insanely miserable." The letter's author may have ended up being the miserable one. "This plan definitely backfired," is how neighbor Tony Ivanaj, who posted the threats to Facebook, put it to Fox 2. It reports the neighbors banded together and decided to have a massive block party, and WXYZ reports Ivanaj set off a firework just as it tuned 9pm in defiance of the letter. One neighbor says the event, which ClickonDetroit reports raised money for St. Jude's, ended up being a bonding experience, with people finally meeting those they lived close to.
