While some of his classmates had more ambitious senior pranks in the works, such as setting live mice loose, Kylan Scheele decided to do something "more laid-back," he tells FOX4—a joke that has now resulted in him getting yanked from walking in graduation. The 18-year-old Missourian, who has a 3.9 GPA, cops to placing a Craigslist ad Friday that put his Truman High School up for sale, highlighting the school's many desirable features, including ample parking, a large dining area, and its proximity to Walmart. Asking price for the Independence facility: $12,725. Reason for the sale: "due to the loss of students coming up"—a reference to the graduating seniors. Scheele says he was told Wednesday he was suspended until the end of school and not allowed to take part in the graduation walk.

"I think they're overreacting," he says, expressing bafflement at what he said was the school's attempt to tie the incident back to recent school shootings around the country. In a statement, his school district noted: "Out of an abundance of caution, administrators and police investigated and determined there was not a credible threat. A student who makes a real or implied threat, whether it is deemed credible or not, will face discipline." A spokeswoman says the district's decision is final. More than 1,100 people have signed a petition to allow Scheele to walk with his classmates during Saturday's graduation ceremony. "A Senior prank is a mark of school spirit," the petition notes. "The whole point of the senior prank is to leave a memory, for you, your classes, your teachers, and your community." (More senior prank stories.)
