It's perhaps not the nicest adjective to assign to a new baby: a "porker," said Sky News presenter Kay Burley of Prince William and Kate Middleton's third child, who the Mirror reports is thought to be the heaviest "future king" in more than 100 years. The child, the fifth in line to the throne, weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces, making him an ounce heavier than Prince George and 4 ounces heavier than Princess Charlotte. But another baby British royal takes the heaviest crown, even if she won't one day wear it: Savannah Phillips, born in 2010 to the Queen's grandson, Peter Phillips, weighed an ounce more.
  • The Mirror reports Kensington Palace will release the child's name in "due course," while noting there's usually some lag time in the announcement of names. George and Charlotte's were revealed after two days.

  • And when it comes to that name, some Brits are doing more than casually speculating. The Washington Post reports Britain has fewer barriers to entry when it comes to betting, and bookies have long taken bets on all things royal. Currently, names like Arthur, Albert, Frederick, James, and Philip are in the lead, with the Post noting the public got it pretty much right in 2015, when top betting companies revealed Elizabeth and Charlotte as the likeliest options. The girl's name: Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
  • TMZ is putting its money on Arthur, writing that while both Prince Charles and Prince William have it as one of their names, it hasn't been used as a first name in some time.
  • The new boy may be top dog among his siblings in terms of birth weight, but he'll be third in line among them for the throne (and fifth overall, with Prince Charles and Prince William at the head of the pack). That he's fifth and not fourth is historic, reports Bustle. It marks the first time in British history where a boy will not move ahead of his older sister in the line of succession. The changes to the royal succession rules were made in 2011. More on those here.

  • The Telegraph outlines the 17-person line of succession here.
  • Speaking of history. Kate "channeled" Princess Diana in her choice of outfit Monday, showing off her son in a red dress with a white Peter Pan collar. When Diana debuted her second son, Harry, to the world, she also wore red, with a Peter Pan collar. People calls it "undoubtedly a tribute" and notes the dress was designed by Jenny Packham, who has handled all of Kate's postpartum outfits. People reports the dress she wore after birthing George was also similar in print to what Diana wore when debuting William.
  • Before the new baby made his debut to the world, he made his debut to his two siblings. People reports William picked George and Charlotte up from Kensington Palace and brought them to the hospital.
