Sen. Marco Rubio fired his chief of staff Saturday over "allegations of improper conduct," CNN reports. "I had sufficient evidence to conclude that while employed by this office, my chief of staff had violated office policies regarding proper relations between a supervisor and their subordinates," Rubio said in a statement late Saturday. "I further concluded that this led to actions which in my judgement amounted to threats to withhold employment benefits." Rubio said he first learned of the allegations Friday and wouldn't be releasing any further details "pursuant to the wishes of those victimized by this conduct." According to Politico, chief of staff Clint Reed started working for Rubio during his 2016 presidential campaign and subsequent Senate re-election campaign. He'll be replaced in the interim by Rubio's deputy chief of staff, Jessica Fernandez. (More Marco Rubio stories.)
