Despite President Trump calling them "political hacks" on Saturday, CIA director Mike Pompeo "stands by" a report issued by the intelligence community that found Russia tried to influence the 2016 election with the aim of getting Trump elected, the Hill reports. "The intelligence assessment with regard to Russian election meddling has not changed,” a spokesperson for the CIA says. The CIA commented after Trump said he believes Vladimir Putin when the Russian president says he didn't try to influence the election. "He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election," Trump said Saturday after meeting with Putin in Vietnam. "He did not do what they're saying he did.” Sally Yates, former deputy attorney general of the US, chimed in on Twitter, calling Trump siding with Putin over the American intelligence community "disturbing and shamelessly unpatriotic, on Veterans Day no less."
