Investigators looking into Russian interference with the 2016 election are zeroing in on Jared Kushner, reports the Washington Post, citing "people familiar with the investigation." At issue are meetings President Trump's son-in-law and adviser held with the Russian ambassador and a Moscow banker whose bank has been the subject of US sanctions in the past. The news follows a report last week that investigators were focusing on an unnamed senior White House official. Kushner is the only known current White House official being considered a key person in the investigation.
Kushner's meetings with the Russians weren't made public when he held them in December, and he failed to report them on his security-clearance forms. Kushner has not been accused of any wrongdoing and is not known to be the main focus of the investigation. His lawyer says Kushner will be willing to share his knowledge of the meetings with investigators should they call on him to do so. Read the full Washington Post report here.
