Bow Wow sparked a viral meme Monday when he posted an Instagram photo appearing to imply he was about to travel on a private jet ... only to be outed on social media as having actually traveled commercial. And thus, the "Bow Wow Challenge" was born, in which social media users post glamorous- or otherwise awesome-seeming photos, followed by a wider shot showing the truth. (The Verge and Digg have a number of examples, such as a guy pretending to be at a football game, then panning out to show he was actually in front of the TV.) On Thursday, Bow Wow explained ... sort of.
"I love it, because people don’t understand the scientific method to my madness,” he said on Hot 97's morning show, per Entertainment Weekly. (He first joked about having taken a Greyhound to get to the studio.) "I’m about to have to the biggest show on WE tv, period. It’s a scientific method to my madness. You gotta just watch the show. Everything’s for the show." Per E!, internet detectives also figured out that the private jet photo Bow Wow used is actually from a Florida transportation service. The show the rapper was talking about, Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta, is a reality show about hip-hop artists that premieres on May 25. (More examples of the Bow Wow Challenge here.)
