The British royals are continuing this week's mental-health blitz in a star-studded way. On the heels of Prince Harry's Monday admission that he sought counseling after two years of "total chaos" in his late 20s comes a FaceTime conversation between Prince William and Lady Gaga on the same topic. The two have released a four-minute video that shows them chatting, Gaga from her LA kitchen and the prince from a desk in Kensington Palace. "Everybody has mental health, and we shouldn't be ashamed of it," says William, who speaks of busting fear and taboos about the topic and of starting to "have this conversation." Agrees Gaga, "We are not hiding anymore, we're starting to talk."
William gives the singer props for going public about her struggles with PTSD in December. She describes how hard it was, even "with all these beautiful, wonderful things that I have," waking up every day and feeling sad and so tired. But speaking out was "the best thing that could come out of my mental illness was to share it with other people and let our generation, as well as other generations know that if you are feeling not well in your mind that you’re not alone and that people that you think would never have a problem, do." People notes that William, Kate, and Harry established the Heads Together initiative about a year ago, and have a week of mental-health awareness events planned in advance of the London Marathon.
