Six days after two Indian men were allegedly shot at a Kansas bar by a man who reportedly yelled, "Get out of my country," the White House has issued a statement. CNN reports a White House spokesperson on Tuesday says the shooting seems to be "an act of racially motivated hatred," adding "the president condemns these or any other racially or religiously motivated attacks." The shooting claimed the life of Srinivas Kuchibhotla and injured his friend Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot, a bystander who tried to stop the suspected shooter, Adam Purinton, from harassing the men. Politicians from both parties, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and even Grillot himself had asked Trump to condemn the shooting, according to the Kansas City Star. The FBI is investigating the shooting as a hate crime. (More hate crime stories.)
