In a moving tribute in Empire, Dan Aykroyd describes falling in love with, and ultimately getting dumped by, Carrie Fisher. They met on Saturday Night Live and got involved while filming Blues Brothers, eventually moving in together. They considered marrying, even getting blood tests to determine compatibility, and Fisher whispered sweet nothings like, "'You have a jawline, hold your chin up otherwise you look like a tuna.' From then on I would identify myself on the phone as Tuna Neck," Aykroyd writes.
He describes the motorcycle and muscle car rides he would go on with Carrie's brother, the sapphire ring he gave Carrie and the creepy oil painting she gave him, and the LSD-infused winter trip he and Carrie took to Reno, "full-on weeping to Christmas classics." And then, the end: "Carrie wasn’t shallow, we had a great time. She was also in love with Paul Simon. She married him but I hope she kept my ring." His full piece is worth a read.
