Donald Trump live-tweeted the vice-presidential debate Tuesday night and he was relatively restrained in his comments, by the standards of Donald Trump's Twitter—possibly because, as the Washington Post notes, he watched the debate with four aides by his side. Before the debate began, Trump announced he was switching to Fox because CNN's "panel is a joke, biased and very dumb." The Huffington Post reports that during the debate, Trump kept his own tweets to a minimum and mainly retweeted comments from other supporters, including some attacking Tim Kaine's appearance, like "Kaine looks like an evil crook out of the Batman movies."
Trump also retweeted comments calling Kaine a liar. As the debate progressed, Trump tweeted attacks on the records of both Kaine and Hillary Clinton, including "ICYMI: PENCE: I RAN A STATE THAT WORKED; KAINE RAN A STATE THAT FAILED," with links to campaign press releases. He accused moderator Elaine Quijano of interrupting Pence a lot more often than Kaine before concluding that Pence had won the debate, USA Today reports. "Mike Pence won big.
