A hostage situation at a Texas Walmart is apparently over, with the Amarillo Police Department reporting that the suspect has been shot by SWAT officers and is apparently dead. Police surrounded the Amarillo store this morning after reports of a shooting, the AP reports, and a statement released just after noon local time by the APD urged residents to steer clear as police surrounded the store. The Randall County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Facebook that there was an armed shooter holding at least one hostage, and that it believed it was a "work-place violence situation." Witnesses had previously said that the suspect was an employee, per KVII. The APD says all hostages are safe. (More Walmart stories.)
