George Zimmerman says he is "honored and humbled" to be selling the gun he killed Trayvon Martin with four years ago. Zimmerman has listed the 9-mm pistol on a gun auction site, calling it a "piece of American history" that the Smithsonian is interested in, reports the New York Daily News. The Kel-Tec PF-9 "that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin" has "recently been returned to me by the Department of Justice," Zimmerman writes in the listing for the auction, which begins at 11am Thursday with an opening bid of $5,000. "The firearm is fully functional as the attempts by the Department of Justice on behalf of B. Hussein Obama to render the firearm inoperable were thwarted by my phenomenal Defense Attorney," Zimmerman boasts.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted of murder in the 17-year-old's death says he plans to use the proceeds to fight Black Lives Matter's "violence against Law Enforcement officers" and "Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric." He tells WOLF that he has received death threats since putting the gun up for auction, but he doesn't care what detractors think and they aren't going to stop him. "I'm a free American," he says. "I can do what I want with my possessions." Martin's family issued a statement saying it is "committed to its mission of ending senseless gun violence in the United States" and "has no comment on the actions of that person," reports the Washington Post, which notes that the auction has led to "nearly palpable outrage" on social media. (Last year, Zimmerman was banned from Twitter for posting topless revenge pics of an ex.)
