It was hard to tell what was more important in Wisconsin's 72-55 win over Kansas State, today: the points Trevon Hughes scored, or the ones Michael Beasley didn't. Hughes scored 25, as the third-seeded Badgers sent the Wildcats home with a second-round win in the NCAA Tournament. Freshman Beasley scored 23 for Kansas State, but only six in the second half.
Hughes sparked a 13-2 Wisconsin (31-4) run, sandwiched around halftime, with eight points. Hughes also hit four the Badgers' nine 3-pointers. Beasley, who is expected to play in the NBA next season, hit just 2 of 6 shots in the second half as Kansas State (21-12) fell behind. The Badgers advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2005. (More NCAA stories.)
