Video Allegedly Has Last Statements of Paris Attackers

A chilling video released by ISIS shows men believed to have carried out the Paris terror attacks beheading captives and making threats against the West. The video released on Sunday shows some of the attackers in a desert location, probably in Syria, and contains what a narrator says are "the last messages of the nine lions of the caliphate who were mobilized from their lairs" to attack France, reports Reuters. The 17-minute video, which analysts say appears to be a genuine ISIS release, includes edited news footage of the attacks that killed 130 people, the Guardian reports. Seven of the attackers, three French citizens and four Belgians, speak French in the video while another two, believed to be Iraqis, speak Arabic, according to the AP.

The video appears to be proof that, far from being just an ISIS-inspired action, the Paris attacks were an assault on Europe by the group itself, planned in Syria and carried out by militants who had been trained there, the New York Times reports. Samy Amimour, one of the attackers filmed killing captives, says "Soon on the Champs-Elysees" as he holds his victim's head aloft, the AP reports. The video concludes with a threat to attack Britain, showing footage of Prime Minister David Cameron making a speech about the Paris attacks and flashing a warning, in English, that "whoever stands in the ranks of kafir infidels will be a target for our swords," per Reuters.
