Ex Speaks Out on Dating George Zimmerman and Topless Photos
On Thursday, George Zimmerman tweeted topless photos of his ex-girlfriend as an act of revenge. Now she's speaking out.   (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel via AP)

“It’s horrible. It’s very violating." Twitter suspended the account belonging to George Zimmerman on Thursday after he tweeted topless photos of his ex-girlfriend Heather, along with her phone number, her email address, and accusations that she slept with a "dirty Muslim" and stole guns and money. Now in an exclusive interview with the Daily Dot, Heather talks about being harassed online by the man who made headlines for killing an unarmed black teenager. “I’ve never dreamed that anything like this would ever happen to me,” she says. “I’m from a very small town. I’ve never been in the public eye by any means.” Heather dated Zimmerman for a few months—against her parents wishes—and originally thought the media had him completely wrong.

“He’s a very charismatic person when you first meet him," Heather tells the Daily Dot. "He tells you what you want to hear." But she says it was "definitely not a normal relationship." She tried to leave Zimmerman—who has faced multiple allegations of domestic violence—a number of times but kept getting "sucked back in." After Zimmerman made her contact information public Thursday, her phone started "going crazy" with everything from sympathetic messages to requests for more nude photos to hateful name calling. She took out a restraining order against Zimmerman that day and says she's worried about what he might try in the future. But she says she's glad Twitter took way what she calls "his lifeline and his platform." Read the full interview here. (More George Zimmerman stories.)
