"Clock Kid" Ahmed Mohamed has been taking advantage of the offers extended to him—he was in California at the Google Science Fair over the weekend, and he'll be in New York to meet with United Nations dignitaries tomorrow—but his dad says the 14-year-old will not be returning to the high school that suspended him after his homemade clock, which he brought to school, was mistaken for a bomb. The family pulled all three of the Mohamed children out of Texas' Irving ISD, according to Ahmed's dad, though the district says the kids are still officially enrolled until the withdrawal process is complete, the Dallas News reports.
That means paperwork must be completed and any school-issued items turned back in; a family friend says textbooks were being dropped back off at schools this morning. Ahmed's dad says many schools have offered his son a place, but he's not sure where the teen will attend. First, he'll get a bit of a break: His dad wants to take Ahmed to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and then to visit President Obama. Ahmed has even chatted with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, the Dallas News reports; Cuban told Bill Maher on Friday, "Do you know who the big winner is? Ahmed. When I talked to him, he got all the attention, right? His two hours were taken. But he told me, 'I've been getting all these offers. I'm not going back to MacArthur.
