One advertiser on The View has "paused" its ads and another has yanked them entirely after controversial remarks about a Miss America contestant made by co-hosts Joy Behar and Michelle Collins, CNNMoney reports. Johnson & Johnson and Eggland's Best reacted to Monday's segment about Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson, a nurse whose talent segment monologue about nursing Behar and Collins poked fun at. (Quipped Behar, "Why does she have a doctor's stethoscope on?") The remarks irritated the nation's nurses and sparked a social media pushback. "We disagree with recent comments on daytime television about the nursing profession and we have paused our advertising accordingly," Johnson & Johnson said in a statement, adding, "We're committed to raising the level of awareness about the skill and knowledge that the profession requires."

Eggland's Best, on the other hand, is leaving the show's ad rotation altogether. In an "Eggland's Best Supports Nurses Nationwide" blurb on its website, the company says, "Eggland's Best appreciates nurses and values the important role they play in family health. In light of the comments about the nursing profession recently made on daytime television we will no longer be advertising on the show in question." The co-hosts who snarked, meanwhile, walked their comments back on Wednesday's show, CNN reports. "I was not talking about her as a nurse," Collins noted. "I was talking about the talent competition and it got misconstrued. We love nurses. We adore you. We respect you. You guys are wonderful." Behar said she was "stupid and inattentive," hadn't realized the contestant was a nurse, and "didn't know … what the hell I was talking about." (Click to watch the awkward moment.)
