A Connecticut man could face life in prison for a killing that police solved by tracking a gold chain and medallion featuring the Disney character Scrooge McDuck. A Hartford jury convicted 23-year-old Tyquan Turner of felony murder, robbery, and conspiracy yesterday. Police said he and an accomplice killed 25-year-old Miguel Rodriguez in July 2013; as they fled the scene, cops say they ripped the unique medallion from Rodriguez's neck, reports the Hartford Courant.
Police who were stumped in the case by witnesses who refused to talk eventually tracked the necklace to a pawnshop. They then used the check cut by the pawn shop and phone records to connect Turner to the killing. Twenty-three-year-old Lorenza Christian is also charged in Rodriguez's killing; he's awaiting trial. Turner's sentencing is scheduled for July 21. (More Scrooge McDuck stories.)
