Media / Chris Hansen Chris Hansen Wants to Catch Predators Again He would also like you to pay for him to do it, via Kickstarter By Polly Davis Doig, Newser Staff Posted Apr 14, 2015 12:22 PM CDT Copied In this Oct. 24, 2008, file photo, NBC News reporter Chris Hansen, who's best known for his "Dateline NBC" reports confronting would-be child predators, is shown. (AP Photo/Evan Agostini, File) Chris Hansen, last seen getting unceremoniously dumped by NBC in the wake of a little marital infidelity, wants to crawl back into the underworld of would-be pedophiles, and he's hoping to catch you in a generous mood so he can do it, reports Rolling Stone. The former NBC reporter's Kickstarter campaign to fund Hansen vs. Predator goes live tomorrow, and he's hoping to drum up $400,000, notes the Los Angeles Times. "There is a pent-up demand from viewers," says Hansen, and the Times notes he could have a point given the wild success of To Catch a Predator, which left the air in 2007. Continues Hansen: "And from a technology standpoint, the landscape has really changed since we did the last one. When we did it before, there were chat rooms on AOL and Yahoo. Now there are 22 ways to communicate online." The plan is to air episodes online before selling them to a TV network. And Hansen also has the backing of William Morris Endeavor and a sponsorship from LexisNexis, notes the Times. The Kickstarter features the usual T-shirts and mugs, though a $150 donation will get you Hansen's voice on your voicemail greeting. (More Chris Hansen stories.) Report an error
