Shootings at multiple locations in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa left one person dead and five others injured today, police say. A suspect is in custody after an hours-long manhunt. He had been described earlier as a white man in his 30s or 40s. The first shootings took place about 8:45am local time at a motel where at least two people were shot inside a room, one of them fatally, reports azcentral. An argument preceded the shooting, reports NBC News. The gunman then reportedly went to a nearby restaurant and shot another person while stealing his car. The others were hit after the gunman fled the scene, and whether they were random victims or deliberate targets remains unclear. Police haven't identified the suspect or released a motive.
