Two pieces of good news for those worried about the spread of Ebola in the US: A patient in isolation at a DC hospital does not have the disease as feared, and nobody else is showing symptoms in Dallas. The DC patient turned up at Howard University Hospital this week with symptoms consistent with Ebola, and he had recently traveled to Nigeria. Tests have since ruled out Ebola, however, reports NBC Washington. The man remains hospitalized in stable condition. The CDC, meanwhile, says that none of the people that Ebola patient Thomas Duncan had contact with before his hospitalization in Dallas are showing symptoms, reports CNN.

"We have already gotten well over 100 inquiries of possible patients," says CDC chief Thomas Frieden. "We've assessed every one of those ... and just this one patient has tested positive." The agency is keeping an especially close watch over nine people identified as being at a "higher risk" given their contact with Duncan. All are being monitored twice daily for signs of trouble, including fever. Health authorities also are making sure that patients who later rode in the same ambulance that transported Duncan to the hospital are OK, reports DallasNews.com. (More Ebola outbreak stories.)
