A lawsuit from a white woman in Ohio says that while she and her white partner love their "beautiful, obviously mixed-race baby girl," they definitely didn't order sperm from a black donor and the mix-up is making life tough in their "racially intolerant" all-white town. Jennifer Cramblett says the Midwest Sperm Bank sent her and her partner, Amanda Zinkon, sperm from donor No. 330 when they had chosen No. 380, and she didn't discover the mistake until she was pregnant, reports the Chicago Tribune. The lawsuit says Cramblett was raised around people with "stereotypical attitudes about nonwhites" and "acknowledges her limited cultural competency relative to African-Americans and steep learning curve, particularly in small, homogenous Uniontown," a town of around 2,800 people.

Cramblett—whose lawsuit says all she received from the sperm bank after the error was a letter of apology and a refund check for the vials of incorrect sperm—says she fears her daughter, now 2 years old, will never be fully accepted by her "unconsciously insensitive" family, who apparently find her homosexuality hard enough to deal with. She is suing for "wrongful birth and breach of warranty" and says therapists have advised her to move to a more diverse community. According to the lawsuit, the mix-up happened because the sperm bank keeps written records instead of electronic ones and the number 380 looked like 330 to the person who sent the vials out, reports Chicago Business. (Earlier this year, a Kansas sperm donor was ordered to pay child support.)
