A huge number of nude photos of celebrities were leaked online over the weekend, but it's not clear just how big the leak is. Some celebs say the photos are fakes, while at least one has confirmed their authenticity and threatened legal action, TMZ reports. "This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos," a rep for Jennifer Lawrence said in a statement. The leak first surfaced on the 4chan website, BuzzFeed reports; a "master list" of hacked celebrities includes Kirsten Dunst, Kate Upton, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and dozens more.

"To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves," tweeted actress Mary E. Winstead. "Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked." Stars like Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande are among those saying the photos appearing online have been doctored, CNN reports. Meanwhile, Gizmodo thinks that hackers could have exploited an iCloud security flaw to get the images. In 2012, hacker Christopher Chaney received a 10-year sentence for stealing nude photos of Scarlett Johansson and dozens of other women. (More nude photo stories.)
