Purr-fect Kitty Survives Subway
Georgia, the kitten who got lost in the New York City subway system 25 days ago - and survived.   (NY Daily News)

A scared black kitten lost in the New York City Subway system more than three weeks ago has been found safe and well. Georgia escaped from a carrying case 25 days ago and scampered into a subway station to survive passing trains, the electrified third rail and some of Manhattan's meanest rats, among other hazards. Two subway workers with Georgia on their mind found her by repeatedly meowing, reports the New York Daily News.

"As I was walking down the track, I was making cat sounds," said one of the workers. "I heard a 'meow' back. I looked down, and said, 'It's Georgia!'"  The little cat, cowering in a drain, licked his hand when he reached for her. "It was kinda cute," he said. "I can imagine the fear the cat had with trains going by." Georgia's owner said she was "still in shock—I gave up hope that they'd find her." (More New York City subway stories.)
