There have been some surprising moments in the courtroom as Donald Sterling battles to keep a firm grip on his Los Angeles Clippers. Earlier this week, Sterling pulled his wife close to him as she whispered in his ear and wiped away a tear, the New York Times reports. Seems like a pretty tender moment for two people fighting over the $2 billion sale of the Clippers to Steve Ballmer, no? Well, perhaps yesterday's events were more appropriate. As Rochelle Sterling approached her husband following testimony in which she said he had been prone to outbursts in recent years, Sterling shouted, "Get away from me, you pig."

The judge called Sterling's comments "somewhat disturbing" while a lawyer for Ballmer called the outburst "a shameful display by a seriously demented tyrant." Sterling's lawyer, however, had a different explanation. "I think the expectation is that the person that you’ve been with through many, many good years and good times will be there when things get tough, and that's not what he’s experiencing." Earlier in the trial, a doctor hired by Rochelle Sterling testified that after reviewing two brain scans and conducting a two-hour interview with Donald Sterling, she determined the 80-year-old "probably has Alzheimer's," CBS News reports.
