The Phoenix Suns usually win games when they lead in the fourth quarter, but the Golden State Warriors would have no part of that last night. Monta Ellis scored 37 points, including a key free throw in the closing seconds, as the Warriors beat the Suns, 120-118. Phoenix had won 30 of 32 when it led in the fourth, but blew a six-point lead.
The Suns are still without newly acquired Shaquille O'Neal. Amare Stoudemire picked up some of the slack with 29 points and Grant Hill had 26 points and 15 rebounds. Baron Davis led the Warriors with 27 points and 13 assists. Stoudemire missed one of two free throws that would have tied it with 3.5 seconds left. Ellis, who has had three 30-point games against Phoenix in two years, hit one of two with 2.1 left. (More NBA stories.)
