As you may recall, James Franco insists all he ever did was make out with Lindsay Lohan, despite the fact that his name appears on a list of hers supposedly showing all the people she's ever slept with. Well, Franco now seems to have doubled down on that, with a new short story in Vice titled "Bungalow 89." It's unclear whether the tale is supposed to be fictional (Gawker says yes, while Jezebel calls it an "essay"), but it is clear that a prominent character in the story is named "Lindsay Lohan," and that character basically stalks Franco's character, who refuses to have sex with her. The story ends:
- "For nine months, while they fixed my house, I was staying in the bungalows. ... Lindsay Lohan was there too. The Chateau was her home, and the staff were her servants. She got my room key. One night she came in at 3am. I woke up on the couch, trying not to look surprised. Instead of f---ing her, I read her a short story about a neglected daughter. ... Every night Lindsay looked for me, and I hid. Out the window was Hollywood."
Basically, it "reads like an overlong explanation from Franco that he did
not sleep with Lindsay Lohan," writes Aleksander Chan for Gawker. On Jezebel, Mark Shrayber is even less charitable: "James Franco is angry at Lindsay Lohan for purportedly lying about him. And instead of just letting it go, he's going to give it back to her as good as he got it." The whole thing just proves Franco "really is just an aging pretentious graduate student or that sleazy un-tenured professor who sleeps with students," writes Alanna Bennett at
Bustle. (More
