A pricey New York menswear shop generally asks for ID when phone orders are picked up. If you're a celebrity's assistant, however, you can sometimes get by without getting carded. That was handy for a man who recently visited Carven after placing orders by phone with a stolen credit card. He told the store he was Jared Leto's stylist, and he left with $2,000 worth of clothes, the New York Post reports.

"He was very convincing, charming and friendly," a store source tells the Post. "He looked hip … he had a scruffy beard." Apparently that was enough for the store to believe him, even though he was buying items probably too big for Leto, the source says. The swindler went to at least two other top Manhattan shops, the Post reports. At Acme, he said Leto was his boss; at Marni, he said it was Johnny Depp. Carven got wise to the scam after American Express wouldn't pay for the purchased items. The fake stylist is still at large.
