The heroic cat who protected her owners' 4-year-old son from an attacking dog was honored last night in a rather odd way: The cat, Tara, "threw" the first pitch at a Bakersfield Blaze game in California, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The family lives in Bakersfield, and the local team is an affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Tara's owner, Roger Triantafilo, held her and the baseball, and the ball was then pulled toward home plate via fishing line that was attached to it. It didn't go very far—let's just say Tara is better at saving little boys than she is at baseball—but the crowd loved her. Also notable: just how calm she is during the whole thing.
