Elbowed to Head, Carter Responds
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reacts from his courtside seat during the fourth quarter of NBA basketball as the New Jersey Nets beat the Mavericks 101-82 Sunday night, Feb. 10, 2008 in East Rutherford, N.J. (AP Photo/Bill Kostroun)   (Associated Press)

Things looked bad for the Nets when Vince Carter took an elbow to the face early in the second quarter, then shakily left the court; however, Carter returned to score 25 points (29 total) and key a 21-0 run that put away the Mavericks for good, 101-82. Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki struggled, shooting just 25%. Also in hoops:

  • Tayshaun Prince led a fast start for Detroit with 14 first-quarter points, and the Pistons cruised against the Bobcats, 113-87, after learning forward Rasheed Wallace would replace Boston's Kevin Garnett at the All-Star Game.
  • T.J. Ford and Jose Calderon combined for 23 assists in Toronto's 105-82 win in Minnesota.
