Police in North Carolina say they've found the remains of a female soldier at Fort Bragg who went missing more than two years ago, reports WRAL. Authorities made the discovery in the woods about 4 miles from the bar where Kelli Bordeaux, then 23, was last seen after a night out with friends. Police arrested Nicholas Holbert, 27, a registered sex offender who has long been a subject of interest in the case. He previously said he had given Bordeaux a ride home that night, but police think she never got there.

"This is a very sad recovery in that we all hoped Pfc. Bordeaux was alive and well," says Fayetteville's police chief. Holbert was at the scene when the remains were recovered and will be charged with first-degree murder. He had been living in a lean-to behind the bar and sometimes did odd jobs for the owner. Bordeaux was a Florida native who was an EMT with the 44th Medical Brigade, reports the Orlando Sentinel. She had been married two years at the time of her disappearance.
