'Baba Wawa' Makes SNL Farewell

Barbara Walters is stepping down this week after a 50-plus year career, and she stopped by Saturday Night Live last night to tweak the show that's been a pretty persistent thorn in her side, reports ABC. Appearing on "Weekend Update," she told Cecily Strong after a montage of the show spoofing "Baba Wawa" over the years, "What an honor it was to see my groundbreaking career in journalism reduced to a cartoon character with a ridiculous voice." When Strong assured her that "we’re huge fans, and you’ve always been a personal inspiration to me, as a news anchor," Walters quickly set her straight: "Well, but, I’m a real news anchor. Cecily, I’m a serious person"—a point she abandoned when Strong reminded her that she's currently co-host on The View.
