Newly released footage from Hawaii's Kahului airport captures the moment a teenage stowaway, somehow still alive after a five-hour flight from California in a plane's wheel well, climbs down from the Boeing 767. The video shows 15-year-old Yahya Abdi jumping down and wandering around the plane until airport workers notice him, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Hawaii's Department of Transportation says the state's airports are secure, with perimeter security that includes "foot patrols, vehicle patrols, and video surveillance."

The stowaway, meanwhile, who was trying to get to Somalia to see his family after learning his mother was still alive, is now back in California and in the care of child protective services, CNN reports. Authorities say they're still deciding whether to press charges. "We have to conduct a thorough interview and get the information from the juvenile himself," a police spokesman says. "If in fact it is determined that there was a criminal offense, it will be criminal trespass, which is a misdemeanor in California." (More stowaway stories.)
