Most of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's conservative allies backed away after his "Negro" remarks—but there are still plenty of heavily armed militia members camped around his ranch and neighbors are becoming uneasy, a Democratic congressman says. At a public event over the weekend, Rep. Steven Horsford said he had been approached by concerned residents and he wants officials including Gov. Brian Sandoval to "do their part to get rid of these armed separatists," reports the AP.

Bundy, who refuses to recognize the authority of the federal government, has been involved in a grazing rights dispute with the Bureau of Land Management for decades. Horsford said he had spoken to a girl in fifth grade who asked him why Bundy had "a sense of entitlement" and said he should "just do what everybody else does and pay his fair share," reports KSNV. A spokesman for the governor says that while he isn't planning to move militia groups from the area, he is "monitoring the situation and he's very aware of what's going on out there."
