Soon, Amazon Prime customers will be able to stream HBO shows—but before you get too excited, be warned that the announcement mostly applies to older programs. Game of Thrones isn't part of the exclusive deal, though seasons of shows like Girls and Veep will appear some three years after they first air, the Hollywood Reporter notes. So which programs will be available? Among them are The Sopranos, The Wire, Rome, Flight of the Conchords, Deadwood, and Eastbound & Down.
Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, and Treme will also be available, though only certain seasons, the Consumerist adds. Some miniseries will be viewable, too, including John Adams, Band of Brothers, and Angels in America; selected specials and movies will be offered as well. The streaming deal is the first of its kind for HBO, the Hollywood Reporter notes, as premium networks, which still rely largely on subscriptions, weigh their online options. HBO Go is also headed to Amazon's Fire TV device, but it'll still require a subscription—perhaps leading to more whining. (More Amazon Prime stories.)
