The FBI has captured a man they believe is responsible for roughly 20 bank robberies along the East Coast. Luis Alomar, 37, was arrested at about 2:30 this morning in the Long Island community of Medford, Newsday reports. Police didn't give any details on the arrest, but did say that a host of local police departments helped out, as did the New York State Division of Parole.

Authorities had yesterday said they suspected Alomar might be hiding on Long Island, warning that he could be armed and dangerous. He allegedly flashed a gun during some of his robberies, warning he would shoot tellers if they said anything, CNN reports. In most cases he simply slid a note to cashiers that told them he was armed, according to the Long Island Press. (More Luis Alomar stories.)
