Money / Black Friday Do Not Buy These 6 Things on Black Friday 24/7 Wall St. lists the worst deals of retail's busiest day By Arden Dier, Newser Staff Posted Nov 29, 2013 6:29 AM CST Copied An H&M store advertises "Black Friday Deals" on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, in New York. (AP Photo/Bebeto Matthews) You may be looking to spend less this holiday season—a Gallup poll says buyers will shell out an average $704 on presents, down from $770 last year—so 24/7 Wall St. wants to help you out. In order to get the most bang for your buck this Black Friday, leave these 6 items on the shelf: Toys: Avoid them like the plague. They'll be cheaper in December, especially in the 2 weeks before Christmas. High-end TVs: It's the lower-end ones that will be priced to sell. Steer clear of electronic accessories, like HDMI cables, too, which are priced high to make up for those cheap TVs. Winter clothes: If you need a warm coat, shell out the cash, but you'll see lower prices come spring. Holiday decor: You won't necessarily have to wait until after the holidays to get a good deal on decorations. Stores are ready to sell low in late December. Gas grills: They're well out of season, which means you'll be looking at limited stock. It's better to buy in September, when you'll have more options at better discounts. Fitness gear: You'd be wise to wait until January, when retailers try to woo those who have resolved to get fit. Click for 3 more shopping no-nos. (More Black Friday stories.) Report an error
