Microsoft launched a series of online ads mocking Apple's new iPhones yesterday ... only to take them down a few hours later. The ads, titled "A fly on the wall in Cupertino?" featured send-ups of meetings between Apple staff and execs ("Remember the thing about how we were going to innovate the iPhone? ... What do you think when I say: new iPhone colors?" says one pretend staffer), but were mocked and derided on social media—particularly one ad that had someone impersonating the late Steve Jobs, reports CNET.

A Microsoft rep admits the ad campaign was "off the mark." Although the videos have been taken off the Windows Phone YouTube account, nothing on the Internet is ever really gone, so here is a copy of one of the ads. (Read more Microsoft stories.)
